DOWN THE RIVER

Stipple engraving by James Denison-Pender on St Louis wineglass. Height 16cm, diameter 7cm.

The scene is a canal which flows into Burma's Inlay Lake. There tho local people have a unique method of rowing standing up with the leg wrapped around the paddle. The engraving also had something to do with the artish raching his 65th birthday. A man sits on the bank of the canal. Youth rows away from him down the river, while old age approaches. .
